Up to six tacklers in single file, 5-10 metres apart down the field. The remaining players line up in a group as runners at the start line with the ball as shown in the diagram.
The runners run as a group.
The initial ball-carrier runs to the first tackler and, upon contact, passes the ball to a supporting player who, in turn, runs onto the second tackler and, after contact, passes to the next support player.
The drill continues.
When the runners get to the end of the grid, they turn and come back down the channel.
The runners and tacklers reverse roles.
• Players should run with the ball in two hands.
• Ensure support players have depth running onto the ball.
VARIATIONS / PROGRESSION:
Standing or kneeling tacklers.
The ball-carrier either stands in the tackle or goes to the ground and places the ball.
