To apply pressure by putting the ball high into the air, allowing attacking players to contest possession.


  1. Hold ball in upright position.
  2. Eyes on ball.
  3. Head over top of ball.
  4. Turn slightly side-on to protect ball.
  5. Swing hips into kick.
  6. Contact ball just behind and under point.
  7. Raise toes on contact.
  8. High follow-through.
  9. Protect ball from opposition.


  1. Kick goes too far or not far enough.
  2. Kicker lifts head too early.
  3. Ball not placed correctly on the foot.
  4. Follow-through not high enough.
  5. Non-kicking foot leaving the ground creates imbalance.
